Yard Helper
Job Overview
The yard helper is responsible for maintaining order and cleanliness in the construction yard and other areas as required; provides support and performs general construction labor tasks as required.
Duties and responsibilities
- Maintaining construction yard and facilities cleanliness through shoveling, sweeping and general labor-intensive duties. These duties will vary depending on the season
- Operating and tending machinery and heavy equipment
- May work with hand tools, power tools and small heavy equipment
- May operate commercial vehicle
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Work Environment
Exposure to dust, fumes and normal outdoor elements.
Required Competencies
Skills:
- Must be punctual and reliable.
- Ability to do physical labor and other strenuous physical tasks.
- Ability to work in all weather.
- Ability and willingness to wear safety shoes, hearing protection, face shields, and additional personal protective equipment.
- Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the job.
- Knowledge of the standard practices, methods, processes, tools, machines and materials
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Skill in the use and care of tools, materials and equipment
Required Education / Experience / Other
Education:
- High School level education or G.E.D.
Experience:
- 6 months to one year of relevant experience
Other:
- Must have a valid driver license
